AGN PHYSICS IN THE CTA ERA - open workshop on May 16 & 17, 2011

With the start of its Preparatory Phase, a new step has been made towards the construction of CTA, the future large Cherenkov Telescope Array of ground-based gamma-ray astronomy. A two-day workshop devoted to  "AGN physics in the CTA era" will be held in Toulouse, May 16th-17th 2011, in parallel with a general meeting of the CTA consortium. Combining reviews and contributed talks, the meeting will aim at presenting the current state of the art and at characterizing future observing programmes for the various facets of AGN science at very high energies (VHE). Topics to be discussed include AGN population studies, particle acceleration and VHE emission models, variability studies, multiwavelength approach, EBL connection, VHE extended emission (radiogalaxies, pair haloes, diffuse background), passive black holes, primordial black holes ...

The workshop will be hosted by the Institut de Recherche en Astrophysique et Planétologie (IRAP) and will take place at the Centre International pour l’Aéronautique et le Spatial (CIAS). Please note that registration will take place at IRAP-Roche (former CESR building), so before going to CIAS, please step by at IRAP-Roche for registration. For more informations about how to reach CIAS and IRAP-Roche, see here.

This workshop is OPEN TO ALL INTERESTED SCIENTISTS.

Please register here.

There will be time for a limited number of contributed talks. If you would like to make a presentation, please contact us (Catherine.Boisson@obspm.fr, Helene.sol@obspm.fr, Andreas.Zech@obspm.fr) as soon as possible (and before April 10th).
